MANKIND AT THE CENTRE OF THE FUTURE

Hi, I’m Tom Meyers – practising osteopath (D.O., MSc. Ost), Fitfull Futures Explorer, founder and international instructor of  The Reaset Approach and author of Futurize Yourself and The Futures Effect.

For nearly 20 years, I have worked hands-on with people whose bodies and minds are struggling to keep up with the pressures of modern life. In my clinical practice, I see how rapid change, uncertainty, and chronic stress affect health, wellbeing, resilience, and performance – not only in individuals, but also across workplaces, teams, and organisations.

My keynote talks explore one of the defining yet often overlooked challenges of our time: the growing conflict between biology and culture. As technology advances, work accelerates, and the future becomes more unpredictable, human beings are expected to adapt at a pace our evolutionary wiring was never designed for. The result is a rising burden of stress-related symptoms, fatigue, dysregulation, disconnection, and reduced capacity to flourish.

Through a unique combination of health expertise, clinical insight, and futures thinking, I help audiences understand the human cost of rapid change – and, more importantly, how to respond to it. My talks are engaging, practical, and future-focused, offering fresh insights into resilience, adaptive wellbeing, and what it really means to become fit for the future.

Because the real question is no longer only what the future will bring. It is whether we are preparing ourselves well enough – biologically, psychologically, socially and spiritually – to flourish and thrive in the future.

The future is screaming for y’our attention. In this fast-changing world, neither past nor present but the future has become the key to y’our life, y’our health and wellbeing, and that of the planet on which we all depend. can’t leave the future up to chance (“Que Sera, Sera”), fate (“Whatever will be will be”) or others to decide. The future is your future, and you have to learn to embrace it and pull it towards you through your decisions, choices and actions in the present.

Yes, you might have learned to fear the future. Still, you can unlearn that fear by understanding, learning about and starting to “use the future” better to manage your present. Thus the future, rather than being a stressor, will become a comfort zone1 where you feel at ease and reassured and which you can develop into a source of meaning and purpose. You can do this by seeing the future not as some unknown destiny, a noun at which you inevitably arrive (Douglas Rushkoff)2 or an emotion where you park your feelings (Gerd Leonhard)3 but as a verb – a thing you do or, as I see it, a mindset to guide a new way of being.

For this mindset, you can borrow and expand on the idea of a business plan to create a personal futures plan to which you can align your behaviour through your decisions, choices and actions. This requires some preparative homework to know who you are, what you want to feel and aspire to have.

It also requires some futurecasting, which means thinking and listing some of the problems of the future you might be faced with, and thinking of the steps you can put in place, preparing to meet those challenges in the future. For example, problems that might influence you, your family or your work are climate change, automation and digitisation. How will these influence you?
With this wisdom in mind, you can consciously envisage future scenarios. This includes envisaging a preferred future, one where you can flourish and thrive and that best suits and assures y’our health and wellbeing. Isn’t that ultimately what we all want? So, what do you want your future to be like? Or, as I like to put it: What “the future” do you want?

The next step is to change forward. By that, I mean to make decisions and choices with more forethought and act intentionally to make your preferred future into an ongoing reality. In other words, making this an ongoing reality by proactively incorporating your preferred future (episodic futures thinking) into your decisions, choices and actions to “change forward” and create a GREAT future for yourself and others on purpose.

Tom Meyers was born in Antwerp, Belgium, in 1970. Initially trained as a chef, he spent several years travelling the world, working as a waiter in hotels across England and aboard Cunard’s flagship, the Queen Elizabeth 2. After eight years, Tom returned to Belgium and, at the age of 29, was prompted to start his own business—a gourmet deli in Mechelen. However, the venture quickly failed, leading him into an existential crisis that nearly caused him to give up on life. Through three transformative steps, which he now calls “Futurizing Y’ourself,” Tom overcame his limiting beliefs and evolved into the person he was meant to be.

Today, Tom is an osteopath and body-centred stress coach with a private practice in Brussels. He is also the founder and international instructor of "The Reaset Approach," a hands-on therapeutic methodology and treatment modality that brings manual therapists into the 21st century. As an accomplished author, Tom has significantly contributed to the emerging field of personal futures development with works like “Futurize Yourself” and “The Futures Effect.” These works offer valuable guidance and strategies to help individuals flourish in a fast-changing and challenging world—in body, mind, and spirit.

Drawing on nearly 20 years of experience, Tom is recognised by his peers as an Evolutionary Wellbeing and Body-Centred Stress Expert. FITFULL ON SPOTIFY

In 2025, I discovered Suno, an AI tool that can be used to create music. What began as a way of bringing one of my self-written texts to life musically soon grew into a new creative – or perhaps better put, generative – outlet. The result was Lost in Control and other tracks. Since then, I have been writing more songs, or using ChatGPT to turn my articles into first versions of song lyrics, which I then develop further myself before having them set to music with Suno.
